Upper Mustang, Nepal, 2008
These panoramic views provide record of the villages of Upper Mustang on the brink of unpredictable change. A road connecting China and India will soon pass through the region and amplify the force of outside influences upon this remote and sparsely populated area.
Kali Gandaki Valley, Nepal, 1983
These photographs were taken during the final weeks of the monsoon in September 1983 along the Kali Gandaki river and the ancient pilgrimage route to Muktinath. Much of this ancient track which passed through the heart of the Thakali homeland and continues north to the Kingdom of Mustang has now been overtaken by a road.
Khumbu District, Nepal, 1982
These photographs were taken in Khumbu region of Nepal in 1982. Khumbu is the Sherpa homeland, bordering Tibet, known to the outside world as the Everest region.
